Into the Future: The Positive Impact of Modular Building

As the world continues to evolve and change, so, too, does the way we build and construct the spaces where we live and work. From the earliest days of mud huts to the buildings of today, humanity has always sought out new and innovative ways to create functional, durable, and attractive structures. One construction method, that has increasingly gained attention in recent years, is modular building. The positive impacts of this method on the construction industry cannot be understated. The impact of modular building has the potential to significantly shape the future of the industry.

What is Modular Construction?

Modular building involves creating a structure or building offsite, using standardized, pre-engineered modules. These modules are manufactured in a factory setting. Once done, these modules are then shipped to the construction site and assembled on-site to create a finished building.

Brief History of Modular Construction

Not many realize that modular construction has been around for more than two centuries. The impact of modular building was first witnessed in the early 1800s. Henry Manning created the first known advertisement for a prefabricated home. Sears started distributing their catalog of prefabricated buildings in 1908 and, by the 1930s, had sold over half a million modular homes.

Modular building gained popularity after World War II when the demand for housing and places of work exceeded the capabilities of traditional construction methods. It provided a fast and efficient solution to meet this demand.

Challenges of Traditional Construction

Two photos side by side. The photo on the left shows Aries’ indoor manufacturing facility in Troy, Texas, with 3 workers in hard hats constructing the exteriors of 2 modular buildings. On the right, a traditional construction site in the midday sun with an excavator digging dirt into a large pile. On the photos is text that reads, “Modular building vs. traditional construction” and the red ram Aries’ logo below it.

There are numerous challenges facing the construction industry today. For instance, traditional construction can be time-consuming, as it typically involves multiple stages such as design, planning, procurement, and execution. This can result in delays and missed deadlines. It can also be expensive due to the high cost of labor, materials, and equipment cost. The traditional construction can be inefficient and risky. It can also be slow since it is prone to cost overruns due to unexpected site conditions and changes in the scope of work.

Traditional construction often causes many negative impacts on the environment. These impacts can result from the heavy use of diesel construction equipment, and transportation of heavy materials and labor. The construction industry alone is responsible for almost 39 percent of the world’s carbon emissions.

Another key factor is the waste production — almost 56 million tons of unused materials, such as wood, steel, cement, etc., go to waste each year.

Benefits of Modular Building

Not only does modular construction address many of the challenges and issues that are common in traditional construction, but it also has additional advantages that make it an attractive option for many projects. Some of the key benefits of modular construction include the following:

·         Faster construction and cost-effective

Modular buildings can be constructed more quickly than traditional ones, as the manufacturing process can occur concurrently with site preparation. Modular building can be more cost-effective than traditional construction, as the factory-controlled environment can result in fewer delays and cost overruns. In addition, the use of standardized components can lead to economies of scale and reduced material costs.

Since modular construction can be more efficient and faster than traditional construction, this can be particularly beneficial in urban areas where land is scarce and demand for new buildings is high.

  • Safety

A yellow and black road sign that reads, “Safety First.”

The construction industry is infamous for being one of the most dangerous workplaces. Work-related fatalities due to falls, slips, and trips increased 5.6 percent in 2021, from 805 fatalities in 2020 to 850 in 2021. Falls, slips, and trips in construction and extraction occupations accounted for 370 of these fatalities in 2021, and an increase of 7.2 percent from 2020 when there were 345 fatalities (National Census of Fatal Occupational Injuries in 2021). Modular construction presents a solution since the manufacturing process takes place in a controlled factory environment rather than on a construction site, little to no workplace accidents are anticipated.

  • High-quality standards

Modular buildings are built to the same standards as traditional ones and can be as durable and long-lasting. In fact, modular construction can result in a higher level of quality, as the controlled factory environment allows for more precise construction and less exposure to the elements.

  • Sustainability

A cropped photograph of an Aries’ modular building with a very beautiful sky above. On top of the image is dark green recycle triangle graphic icon.

There is no doubt the impact of modular construction is prevalent in terms of sustainability. One of these benefits is reduced carbon emissions by eliminating most transportation needs since everything takes place in a factory. Modular construction uses excess material to make frames, roofs, and siding. This building’s nature permits the repurposing and recycling of excess materials.

Integrating solar panels into modular buildings will reduce carbon emissions over the lifetime of the building. On average, a simple solar setup can prevent the emission of 2.5 tons of carbon dioxide per year. This helps to make modular buildings more environmentally friendly and sustainable.

How modular construction is going to fit into the future

There has long been a need for a shift in the construction industry. As the world continues to evolve, the construction industry needs to do so to keep up with the changing needs of society. Modular construction has the potential to move the industry away from its traditional, labor-intensive methods and towards a more modern, factory-based approach similar to those used in other manufacturing industries. Some people may resist this change and prefer the traditional building, but others may welcome the improvements that modular construction can bring.

The business case for modular building should be as easy as it was for the automotive industry as Tom Hardiman, Executive Director of the Modular Building Institute, stated in an interview for Forbes, “No one would question how we build cars today. It would be comical to have all the parts delivered to your driveway with a dozen workers to build it… Yet we build our homes, schools, and offices in this inefficient and wasteful manner every day.”

Valentine’s Report: Love for Modular Building Leader Aries

2023-02-17T19:07:04+00:00

.

Group of hands holding red letter cut-outs that spell “We Love You” on the sky and the red ram logo of Aries is in the center of the blue sky with a few clouds.

Love for modular building leader Aries comes from many sources. The best customer service in the modular building industry – or any industry – comes in a variety of forms. Employees are more willing to extend their accommodating behavior to the organization’s customers if they feel heard and cared for. A well-treated staff is more likely to remain with a company. Consequently, they gain expertise that equips them with personalized insight into customer needs. A homegrown customer service culture is the end outcome.

Aries is a Second Home

Successful businesses realize the importance of making their people their priority. The most crucial of all is to rank among the most extraordinary workplaces. A successful business has contented staff and satisfied customers. Listed below is feedback from members affirming that Aries is the best place to work.

Richard “Dee” Stephens, South Central Sales Associate

Dee has been with Aries for more than three years. Here, he answers the question of what he believes Aries’ future will be like:

I think Aries has a very bright future and will continue to be one of our industry’s leaders and I plan on continuing to work hard to help build the Aries’ brand in South Central Territory.

It is an honor to work for Aries and the people I work alongside.”

Ashton House, Sales Representative – DFW, West Texas, and New Mexico

Having been with Aries for two and a half years, Ashton has accumulated combined industry experience for seven years now. She has this to say about the difference between working in Aries versus other companies:

“I believe we have the best product and people in the industry at Aries. Our product stands out for being top quality amongst others. But I believe our people are what makes the true difference. The majority of Aries’ employees have worked in the industry most of their careers, so the experience and knowledge that comes with that is unmatched. We are able to rely on our team to always find the best solution for our customer’s needs. We always want to exceed customer’s expectations and also be easy and also efficient for our customers to do business with.

The Aries’ brand differentiates itself by striving to always operate with integrity.”

Lori Turner, New England Territory Sales Manager

At the time, Lori had been with Aries a mere four months. When asked what qualities Aries has that were not evident in her previous experiences working with other companies, she stated:

“Emphasis on team building, positive customer experience, & a supportive leadership team that empowers their employees.”

We are fortunate to have top-notch managers who can unlock each worker’s potential. Because of the family-like culture of our company, we have experienced fantastic success and growth. It makes sense why people adore Aries.

Why Customers Love Aries

In addition, customers praise the modular building leader Aries for their quick reaction times, high-quality structures, and adaptable turnkey solutions. Aries’ mobile offices, storage containers, modular educational facilities, workforce housing, construction trailers, GLOs, and portable buildings are all the rage!

A collage of four faded photographs of Aries’ employees having a good time with the red ram Aries’ logo placed in the middle.

For businesses like Aries, attentive listening has become a priceless advantage as modular buildings have become more complex. Meeting with each customer and learning about their specific prefabrication demands and conditions is necessary to provide turnkey solutions.

For instance, consider Civil & Environmental Consultants who found working with Aries refreshing and appreciate that they will get a voice on the other end of the line. Our Sales Representative, Dee Stephens, gets back quickly if customers leave a message. Altogether, customers frequently express their gratitude for the support.

Rather than just leasing for a short period, Aries is adamant about providing services that meet the client’s future needs. Hence,  customers interpret this as a belief that Aries makes a concerted effort, and we do. We aim to be their last and single provider of mobile offices.

Some of the nicest praises are given to others when we are not around.

There are those that grow weary of working with other modular building suppliers. However, hearing about Aries through the grapevine, they turn to us. That was the case when Southern Border Constructors recommended us to Civil and Environmental Consultants, which allowed us to serve them successfully. Whenever customers call us back for a modular building project, they are showing confidence in us. No matter the client, whether you are 3-S Services, Ash Creek Homes, or NRP West, we deliver without the trouble of working with other suppliers.

The red ram Aries’ logo is on the top left and around it are 5 images of modular building facilities showing external and internal structures. There are 2 photos on the top and 3 below.

The Whatcom County Fire Department was another client looking for spacious, open areas ideal for communication and a welcoming atmosphere. Going well with the lovely natural setting of pine trees and the gently sloping foothills, the structures put in place in Whatcom have ash-colored exteriors and fern-colored roofs. A region well-versed in aesthetics, the fire department expressed satisfaction with the buildings’ visual appeal: “They look great!”

Aries is incredibly proud that the military, government, first responders, and healthcare sectors use our facilities.

Our specialists can design the ideal modular building for governmental organizations using high-quality, scalable turnkey solutions. We supply facilities to all branches of government as a GSA-approved vendor, and we’ll keep putting quality first for our civil servants. That’s why with all this positive feedback from our members and customers, it is no wonder that we would be receiving a love letter about our service:

New Year, New Beginnings: How Aries Leads in Modular Buildings

2024-11-13T19:05:05+00:00

A yellow tractor pulls a high-quality Aries modular container, on its way to its consumer. On the top right is the blog title that says, “New Year, New Beginnings: How Modular Building Leader Aries Keeps Ahead of The Curve” with the red Aries’ ram logo underneath.

How has modular building leader Aries stayed ahead of the curve? Before Aries became the ultimate provider of temporary buildings, it was nothing more than a dream between two brothers. Reliant Asset Management (RAM), established in 2010 by Michael and Barry Roman – brothers and business partners – is the result of forty years of tenacity, determination, and expertise in the modular construction sector. The Roman brothers first founded RAM to supply modular structures and workforce housing for various professional needs, based on the success of their prior modular construction financing business, Resun Leasing, Inc.

Ever since, they have increased the scope of the privately-owned business by purchasing several subsidiaries, such as Class Leasing Inc., which provides services to the California education sector. Aries has a wide range of commercial ventures in its outstanding portfolio. However, Aries has focus in two industries: worker housing and manufacturing modular buildings. RAM has been able to adapt and prosper even in turbulent economic times. This is thanks to its drive into newer sectors like leasing and education.

Here’s a rundown of Aries’ most recent milestones, from acquisitions to our pandemic response workarounds. All done by none other than the expert in the modular building industry — Aries!

Recent Acquisitions

  1. Precision Structures

Over many decades, Precision Structures has amassed a solid, devoted customer base. Aries was delighted to have this leading figure in the modular business join the team. Consequently, our current clients can look forward to top-notch customer support and space options.

Offering modular building solutions to various industries, including but not limited to commercial, industrial, educational, medical, and municipal ones is a joint goal of Aries and Precision Structures. Both businesses offer ground-level offices (GLOs), storage containers, office trailers, portable classrooms, and specialty modular buildings.

As part of its expansion strategy, Aries is open to new modular suppliers eager to work with the leading company in the sector on recent transactions and alliances. Aries, buoyed by development and forward motion, looks to the future. With an attitude of expansion on every conceivable level, we continue to develop our company, reputation, and brand.

  1. Jobsite Mobile Offices

Jobsite Mobile Offices is also a new addition to Aries’ expanding portfolio. Their business model complements Aries’ growth plan, and this acquisition comes from our ongoing growth. By developing the most cutting-edge modular solutions that are feasible, these new synergies will considerably improve our capacity to serve the community. Ultimately, theses endeavors will make us the modular building leader.

“This is a very special time for Aries and the modular building industry as a whole. We provide space solutions, and there is no end to the possibilities within our ever-growing industry,” said Mike Bollero, Jr., President of Aries.

Through acquisitions and internal growth, Aries continues to grow and expand due to the brand’s expansion inside the modular sector. We are thrilled to continue providing our current clients with excellent service while broadening its clientele in the Midwest region by acquiring Jobsite Mobile Offices. Aries seeks out new possibilities and the potential of enduring progress.

Cutting-Edge Modular Building Designs to Be Thankful For

2024-03-19T18:28:12+00:00

The inside of the AAND Sayana in wooden furnishings and walls and white paints on stair railings and door frames.

Let us explore the cutting edge modular building designs to be thankful for this Thanksgiving. Forget the myths and stigma of yesteryear’s modular construction! Designers are currently demonstrating how modular construction may be used to create distinctive and site-specific structures. This considers the specifics of terrain, weather, and program. It also allows chances for the light of nature, ventilation, and landscapes while resulting in a design expression individual to its location and surroundings.

But can modular building also assist the construction sector in achieving its urgent and wildly ambitious sustainability targets? Modular building proponents contend this is true, claiming that their method can provide more social and environmental sustainability advantages than traditional building methods.

Modular Design Benefits

  1. Decreased material waste

Comparing modular construction to conventional construction might lower net waste in half. Errors and accidental damage are less likely due to the fabrication facility’s optimal settings. Lean manufacturing principles and other techniques for better inventory control can be applied more effectively using factory-based modular construction procedures.

  1. Reduced energy consumption during building

Due to manufacturers’ superior ability to manage energy consumption and emissions compared to conventional building sites, construction energy use decreases during the fabrication phase of a modular project. In addition, we will see a decrease in energy used onsite for items like worker transportation and housing, as well as for power tools, plant, and site-wide lighting because modular projects require fewer onsite employees for a much shorter time.

  1. Support for reusing, recycling, and adaption

Buildings can be more quickly and economically adopted, modified, or disassembled into components that can be reused or deconstructed for recycling because of modular construction’s “plug and play” adaptability. A building can become more flexible and adaptable, and hence more future proof, by incorporating modularity at the systems level.

  1. Enhanced and safer working environments

Modular construction in an offsite facility is typically safer for workers than traditional onsite construction. Workers at modular fabrication facilities are subject to fewer risks than those on a typical construction site, where they generally work outdoors, around heavy equipment, and at heights.

  1. Significant construction cost reductions, improved productivity, and advantages in quality control

Modular building’s accelerated construction process generates most of its budgetary advantages. In most modular projects, the time needed to construct and commission a modular structure is reduced by 25% to 30%. Therefore costs associated with financing are also decreased as a result.

With modular construction, most of the fabrication and assembly of building components takes place in a controlled environment optimized for manufacturing. Therefore, design, manufacturing, and also construction processes are more closely integrated, capturing impossible efficiencies with conventional methods, and facilitating more effective quality assurance.

Cutting Edge Modular Building Designs

We’re not stopping with the technical stuff! In fact, the following collection of contemporary constructions demonstrates the pros of offsite construction. Onward to the list of cutting edge modular building designs!

Milan Expo 2015: Czech Republic

Chybik+Kristof Architects & Urban Designers

The Czech Republic Pavilion at the 2015 World Expo’s award-winning design by Chybik + Kristof is now complete. The simplicity of the modular design during construction and transportation led to its selection. The structure, which measures about 35,000 square feet, designed around a swimming pool as a homage to the advanced water treatment methods used in the Czech Republic. The 2015 Milan Expo will not mark the end of the Czech Republic pavilion’s existence because it is more than just an exhibition space.

Koma modules, a modular construction technique, were used to erect the building. In fact, water was included in the design, which was a challenge, and the result was spectacular. There are stores and a restaurant on the ground floor; exhibitions are on the first and second floors; and, of course, a garden is on the top.

No Footprint House (NFH): Ojochal, Costa Rica

A-01 (A Company / A Foundation)

A-01’s gorgeously open and cross-ventilated Costa Rican No Footprint House is a model for a line of upcoming zero-carbon residences. The building uses a steel frame structure centered on a central service core and only uses environmentally friendly materials. An exterior timber panel of the building has an open and close feature to control views and exposure while it stands on the edge of a tropical jungle. Undeniably, the one-of-a-kind structure is entirely customizable and incredibly economical. This structure is easily constructed, disassembled, and also transported on the back of a single truck.

Hence, The 2019 A+Award for Architecture + Sustainability went to this impressive project.

Home-Office Pods AAND Sayana: Bandung, Indonesia

Aaksen Responsible Aarchitecture

The creation of prefabricated modular home office AAND Sayana is in response to the global pandemic and its effects on workers. The construction of cross-laminated timber (CLT) building was in a factory and soon marketed as an earthquake-resistant construction. In addition, an on-grid solar panel system provides the building’s energy needs. Even the least skilled DIY craftsperson can readily construct the building by focusing on high-quality, local, also prefabricated materials.

Habitat 67: Montreal, Canada

Moshe Safdie

Moshe Safdie, FAIA, a young architect with a ground-breaking design for a fusion of the suburban single-family home and the urban apartment structure, was at the forefront of architecture in 1960. At McGill University in Montreal, he used the concept as the basis for his undergraduate thesis.

To create the apartments for the expo, Safdie constructed 365 modules in a factory and stacked them asymmetrically. The apartments ranged in size and kind from 600 square feet for one-bedroom apartments to 1,800 square feet for four-bedroom apartments. Every apartment in the building had a roof garden and a shared pedestrian street from which to enter.

Montreal and Canada revere Habitat 67 as a monument to architecture.

Finding, Hiring, and Retaining Top Talent in Modular Building

2024-11-13T18:12:21+00:00

Photo of two people engaging in a handshake. The person on the left is an employer wearing white professional dress clothing and holding a clipboard with a resume. The person on the right is the jobseeker wearing black professional dress clothing. Aries’ red ram logo is on a white rectangular background on the bottom right corner of the photograph.

Finding the right people and maintaining a lasting working relationship with your employees can be daunting at times. The unemployment rate in the country hit an all-time low, and companies are struggling to land and keep good employees. COVID-19 has changed everything in an instant, and greatly affected many people including the economy. It has forever changed workplace norms and how companies conduct their processes.

In addition to the obvious health concerns, uncertainty and job security also plagued businesses, job seekers, and the employment sector.

Three photos related to the COVID-19 pandemic. The photo on the left shows someone working from home in front of a laptop doing a video conference. The second photo in the upper right corner shows a magnified view of the Coronavirus strain. The third photo on the bottom right corner shows a sign asking people to maintain at least 6 feet social distancing.

While the economy recovers, experts foresee major changes in the acquisition of good employees, and keeping up may introduce a variety of challenges. With the right mindset and knowing what you want for your business in terms of getting the best people from the job market is a great start.

With that in mind, here are a few ideas that have helped Aries stand out from the rest of the modular building industry in terms of hiring and keeping our employees happy and engaged.

Let Candidates Start a Career with You in a Simple and Accessible Way

Job seekers today may no longer be interested in 10 pages of job postings. Sure, they need to learn more about your organization to see if they qualify or meet what you are looking for. But you can do this by simplifying the application process and removing complex stages in the recruitment process. This way, you will be able to gauge the candidates and not miss out on the pool of talent that comes your way!

The photo on the left shows someone frowning and reading multiple pages of paper while sitting in front of a laptop. The second graphic on the right has black and white line art showing a bunch of question marks going into a funnel. The red Aries’ ram logo is at the top left of the first photo.

Having the right competencies and abilities that correspond to the technical aspects of a role is crucial. You can add screening questions into your process to help understand what drives a potential employee and determine if the company’s values are in line with the candidates. At Aries, technology helped us improve our products, services, and our hiring process. Having a lot of applicants is great, but we make sure that we do not lose out on the right people. Aries conducts screening questions on our career page to help us and potential candidates see if they can be a great fit for the company.

Maintain a Company Culture That Lets Professionals Realize Their Potential for Growth and Career Advancement

A photo on the left shows a group of employees training in front of a laptop. The image also has a quotation by the philosopher Aristotle, “We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence then is not an act, but a habit,” written in white font with red background.

Having a clear vision in terms of career growth, compensation, and skills development allows employees to be the best they can be and see a lasting future with the company. Let’s face it — working for an organization you love is great, but having competitive pay and benefits is not bad. In addition to this, train people who have the potential and encourage their growth within your organization. Offer a type of mentorship program between the leaders and employees to bring out their best. Provide opportunities to limit stagnation in terms of their growth, that way your staff will know that you welcome their eagerness to succeed, and they’ll be more likely to stay longer with your company.

Make the Company a Place They Want to Belong

When an organization makes and gives value to its employees, word of mouth spreads like wildfire, and professionals seek the opportunity to be part of your company. It is not always the competitive pay that entices a person to work with an organization. Others prefer, and in some cases long for, a company that practices a healthy working environment where personal well-being, growth, and good relationships among employees are evident.

“Employees want to feel good about their organization and what it offers the world. They want to be able to say, ‘I like what this company stands for.’ If employees do not believe in their company or do not believe the company can successfully uphold its brand or reputation, they are likely to look for a different job.” – page 29 Gallup Report

“Aries feels like family. Even though this is an office and work, we all get along and treat each other like family. I’ve known some of these people for decades. Mike and I have worked together since the 80’s and Danny have worked for me since he was 19 years old. My wife even made his wedding cake! I should be retired by now, but I’m sticking around because I love this company.” — Skip Browder, Vice President of Estimating, Aries

Encourage your staff to build quality and lasting friendships among them. Having your friends as coworkers is a bonus on its own and will surely help promote teamwork and camaraderie in your organization.

Open Communication and Employee Wellness are Key

Maintaining open and honest communication between company leadership and employees is another way to enhance the working environment in your organization. Rolling out regular surveys to your staff lets them know they have a voice and that their feedback is valuable to the organization.

This also serves as their platform where they can dish out and express what they are feeling while working with you as well as a way for the company to gauge the well-being of every member of the organization. They can also voice any concerns they may have with their colleagues and the workplace itself. Discuss with them their suggestions and provide constructive feedback so they can assess whether you are on the same page in terms of growing the business.

A collage of three photos. First photo on the upper left corner shows a group of 8 employees doing a high-five. On the upper right, an employee and a manager are having friendly conversation in front of a computer with the Aries’ logo incorporated in the bottom right of the photo. Last photo across the bottom shows a silhouette of people in goofy poses enjoying the sunset.

In addition to this, always make sure to maintain a proper work-life balance for your employees. Give them time to enjoy the fruits of their hard work by initiating company activities. Gain an understanding of their lives outside their work hours and be flexible with thier personal time. They will more likely perform better if they see that their time, voice, and wellness are valued by your organization.

“When people go to work, they shouldn’t have to leave their hearts at home.” — Betty Bender

A Pat on the Back Goes a Long Way

Celebrate wins! Like you, your staff needs to feel that they are appreciated. A simple type of recognition from the leadership will let your employees know that their hard work is not overlooked. Enjoy the milestones that you have reached together, and they will surely look forward to your next success.

A collage of three photos symbolizing celebration in the office. Photo on the left shows a group of people celebrating with golden confetti. Photo on the upper right shows 3 employees smiling and clapping in celebration. Last photo on the bottom right shows 5 employees celebrating in the office and throwing paperwork in the air. The red ram Aries’ logo is on top of the bottom right photo.

Sell Your Strengths and Achievements

Remember, you are enticing professionals to have the opportunity to work together and grow your business. Boasting your achievements and your organization in terms of their career and growth is not a bad thing. Let them know why your current employees enjoy working with you and provide clear examples of how your company stands out from the rest. You are not just posting a job; you are extending an invitation to unlock their potential to grow and a career that they will surely enjoy.

“I must admit, sometimes I wake up excited. Literally excited. I’m working a job that I enjoy with people I like spending time with, and a company that brings space solutions to the world. Our mission solves problems and brings people peace of mind. How can I not love my job?!” Katie Roman, Senior Vice President – Aries Building Systems, LLC

Expansion of Business and Team

Aries is experiencing significant growth. Adding additional service locations across the United States, enhanced service offerings, and acquiring Precision Structures. With this expansion, the company welcomes several new modular industry professionals to their team. In a press release about their recent acquisition, Senior VP Katie Roman says, “Our growth is more than a story of surpassing revenue goals and winning new customers. It’s a testament to our hard-working employees and our commitment to offering first-class services that outperform competitors. I’m deeply proud of the Aries’ team. We welcome Precision to join in on the collaborative, cheerful, and impactful company culture we have built together. Our team is highly motivated in our quest to expand and develop, with a definitive goal to build our team.”

Reasons You Hate (or Love!) Your Job

2022-09-14T17:05:31+00:00

A photograph of a depressed worker with their head down on a desk, an open laptop is covering their head, and holding a flag-like sign that reads, “HELP!”

Joe goes to work every day and does his tasks religiously. He may have been doing this for the past couple of years now. But this does not mean that Joe is happy with what he is doing. Joe hates his job. Why? Let’s explore reasons you hate (or love!) your job and can relate to Joe.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics has reported that 4.5 million workers quit their jobs in March 2022. The overall quit rate grew to 3%, a level not seen since December 2021. The number of quits rose significantly in the professional and business services sector and in construction. But wait, there’s more.

The Pew Research Center has new survey findings on the top reasons Americans quit their jobs in 2021. Most workers who left a job expressed discontent with low pay (63%), feeling disrespected at work (57%), or not having good benefits such as health insurance and paid time off (43%). With the added strain of the pandemic, we somehow feel Joe’s sentiment — struggling to have the motivation to go to work and dreading the next day of anxieties to come. Before handing over that resignation letter, we have rounded up the primary reasons and tips that will help you deep-dive into why you hate your job.

A graphic of a professional wearing a suit facing an exit doorway with yellow light shining out.

Low pay? No way!

This dilemma will drive you nuts if you live from paycheck to paycheck. However, you cannot quit without savings to cover the days you need to pay your bills and other obligations.

Our tip: A heart-to-heart talk with your supervisor wouldn’t hurt. Emphasize your good performance and how much value you have added to the company throughout your stay with them. Great companies will consider your salary concerns.

Have you figured out if you hate or love your job yet? Let us continue.

I am just an employee number standing in front of my supervisor, asking them to hear me out!

Feeling voiceless at work can cause you to feel helpless and disconnected from your company. It can also lead to less motivation to accomplish your tasks.

Our tip: By working with your supervisor about the matter, provide concrete examples of times you exceeded expectations and did something great for the company that went unrecognized.

It is hard to change your company’s core values, but there are things you can switch on your end. Seek help to investigate if you can get transferred to a different team. If that is not possible, try to insert your influence your workplace culture incorporating some of your character traits and work preferences. Developing genuine connections with your coworkers can make work feel more meaningful and fun. It also gives you something to look forward to every day, even if you dread the actual work.

Do you hate or love your job? Let’s explore further.

Not-so-enticing benefits and paid time off!

The health insurance or leaves are not enough to cover the stress you are encountering with the low pay and existential dread in the workplace.

Our tip: Maybe it is time to check your health insurance if there are other perks you did not know you had in the first place. Some health insurance covers services like massage or acupuncture. It might offer complimentary gym memberships that you have always wanted to initiate. Make sure you find out what is on offer and prioritize using them to your advantage.

Your workplace is responsible for creating a setting and culture ideal for achieving satisfaction at work. But in the end, your happiness at work solely depends on you and you alone. It is essential to find a workplace that will invest in the well-being of its employees and create an ideal work environment in which employees can grow and be appreciated.

Here at Aries, we’re on a pursuit to show the world a better way to come up with workplace solutions. We are always scouting for champions. Life at Aries is fast-moving yet well-adjusted. From consistent teamwork to the sense that everyone has each other’s back, you will undoubtedly make a difference at Aries. The same spirit drives us to enhance how the world builds.

Aries continues to grow due to our experienced team and stable funding. We offer a casual and vibrant work setting with a competitive salary, significant medical, dental, and vision benefits, and a 401k plus vacation and sick days.

A photograph of a group of diverse workers sitting at a long table smiling at the camera and showing teamwork at the workplace. On top of the image are words that read, “Is a career at Aries right for me? Take our career quiz! Apply now” as the links on that webpage.

As an Aries’ team member, you are encouraged to aim for greatness. We are committed to providing you with the outlet to boost your goals and achieve your career initiatives. Our emphasis is on development, and we believe you remain at the center of our progress. After all, happy employees equal pleased customers.

Lastly, we are honored to have first-rate leaders on our team who know how to bring out the capabilities of their team members. Our incredible success and growth are a direct result of the company’s family atmosphere. We are not just a workplace, but your home away from home.

A wise human being once said, don’t fear the unknown. Be more concerned about never knowing what is ahead. Take that leap of faith and take our 1-minute “fun quiz!” You might just land your dream job.

Hurricane & Disaster Relief: Immediate Delivery of Emergency Portable Buildings

2024-05-02T09:24:44+00:00

A satellite meteorological image of a hurricane above an ocean with a 3D graphic of Aries’ immediate delivery vehicles and the words “Hurricane and Disaster Relief Buildings: Immediate Delivery” next to Aries’ official logo and website address: ariesbuildings.com

The last few years have brought many devastating natural disasters to communities across the country. Since 2016, every hurricane season has had above average activity bringing infamous hurricanes such as Harvey, Maria, and Irma in 2017 alone. Just last year, Louisiana was slammed by Hurricane Ida on the 16th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina making landfall. Unfortunately, other natural disasters – such as tornadoes and wildfires – have also left their mark across the country, and communities have been forced to endure unspeakable destruction. It is difficult to imagine how to rebuild and go on. Here at Aries, we work to provide relief to those in some of the worst times of their lives through our emergency portable buildings.

A group of firefighters in their gear discussing an emergency plan of action.

Aries is amodular building provider and distributer

We are a modular building provider and distributer, and we provide quality service and portable buildings for every need all year round. However, Aries also provides affordable emergency portable buildings during difficult times of disaster. In the middle of an emergency, time and organization is essential for first responders. Our service can take care of everything involving your disaster relief building project including the necessary design, in-house manufacturing, and also contracting other services like food, cleaning services, and water storage. We make sure your portable building arrives quickly and smoothly to ensure you and your team can efficiently coordinate relief efforts from a safe headquarters.

Different populations will have unique needs in the aftermath of a natural disaster. One of the most vulnerable populations are patients in hospitals and those who require medical attention caused by the extraordinary circumstances. Aries has portable medical trailers that can serve as triage stations for rescuers. In addition, we work with local hospitals to provide larger modular buildings that can work as “hospitals on wheels.” Lastly, Our buildings, despite their size, can be moved quickly to keep both employees and patients safe in a disaster zone.

Photograph of a wet walkway between two rows of relief buildings with a pair of boots outside next to a door.

Our Priority is Always Safety

One of the biggest problems after a disaster is the displacement of a huge part of the population. Those who stayed to brave the storm have nowhere to go. And those who left have nowhere to come back to. Our priority is always safety, which is why we provide portable emergency housing. An area after a natural disaster is full of potential accidents and danger. Water is often unsafe to drink. The improper use of electric generators can kill, and there is often extreme heat or cold which causes more fatalities. All these can be avoided when people are provided a clean, warm bed under a stable roof. We can provide and contact every service necessary to make our portable buildings habitable and comfortable.

We have long strived for the title of the best modular building company. Aries has worked with big and small clients from a variety of sectors. Aries brings them creative solutions and also professional logistics planning. We believe some of our best services comes from providing relief to people in need during a very hard time. As we approach peak hurricane season, we hope there will be no need for our services, but we remain prepared to act at a moment’s notice.
