Temporary Mobile Offices Enhance Business Efficiency

2024-11-13T19:03:09+00:00

A side angle view of a modular unit, leased to Nabors Drilling by Aries.Solution Type: Sales Office

Scope of Project: 2,300 sq. ft.

Time to Occupancy: > 30 days

One of the most advantageous aspects of maintaining and leasing our fleet of modular office complexes is being able to provide our clients with the space they need in record time.

Quick turnaround and efficient time-to-occupancy is key to ensuring that your business keeps running smoothly, particularly during renovations or relocations when you need immediate space for day-to-day operations.

Nabors Drilling owns and operates the world’s largest land-based drilling rig fleet, and is a leading provider of offshore platform workover and drilling rigs in the U.S and multiple international markets. A longtime client of Aries’ workforce housing branch, Nabors has relied on Aries to meet their workforce housing needs in Karnes City in South Texas since early 2015.

In mid-November 2018, Nabors inquired about the commercial leasing side of Aries, with a problem that needed a solution – and fast. Nabors was in a pinch, needing a temporary office space in Odessa, TX with no time to waste.

They were quickly referred to account manager Bryan Wilkerson, who specializes in meeting complex customer needs with simple, comprehensive solutions. A relocatable modular office complex was the answer, and Aries had a 36’ x 64’ unit that was perfect for the job.

Nabor preferred the use of a complex as opposed to standard temporary office trailers, as the complex was able to keep all their employees under the same roof for comfort and convenience, whereas other modular building leasing companies are unable to provide a similar solution.

Most impressive of all, the entire project was turned around in less than 30 days. In under a month, Aries had finalized a contract with Nabors, ordered the necessary equipment, and installed a fully operational office – a story of outstanding teamwork and the power of the Aries turnkey advantage!

What are YOU waiting for? Contact Aries today and let’s get started on your project – together!

Workforce Housing: Meeting Challenges with Greatness

2021-03-07T17:58:21+00:00

Mountain climber helping another to the mountain summit with the words “Believe in Greatness” above the Aries Residence Suites burgundy ram head logo.

As a leader in workforce housing, we have learned that challenge is our best teacher, and without it, you will never realize what you can become. Influence is not a quality that people are born with. Great leadership is earned through hard work, diligence, and integrity. Life delivers a full experience of good and bad, and failure is part of the deal. At Aries, we meet the unexpected head-on, because we understand it is through meeting challenges with greatness that we earn our reputation as a leader in the modular building & workforce housing industry.

How Aries Handles Challenges

In the face of overwhelming odds or critical failures, it’s easy to lose sight of your aspirations, but the charismatic leaders we admire throughout history don’t give in to that temptation. They work to overcome any challenge, as this excellent Inc. article “7 Challenges Courageous Leaders Overcome” by Jason DeMers describes. From Steve jobs to Oprah Winfrey, from Albert Einstein to James Dyson…all faced ridicule, rejection, and disaster before earning their rewards.

Thankfully, our company is “over the hump” when it comes to establishing itself as force to be reckoned with in the modular building industry, but what about the inevitable daily challenges of building and running workforce housing facilities throughout the US & Canada? What happens when things don’t go as planned?

Recently, a younger guest checked into Aries Residence Suites in Watford City, North Dakota after hours. A new office employee accidentally checked the guest in to a room that was being addressed for maintenance issues. Unfortunately, the guest discovered the maintenance issues as they were talking on the phone with their mom, who immediately became worried, as good moms do. Mom wrote an immediate email, in addition to calling the workforce housing camp directly.

The result of this error was, of course, getting the guest into another room. However, it was the accountability and kindness exchanged between two human beings that proved most meaningful:

(Dear Guest's Mom) Thank you for your response back to me today. It is greatly appreciated that you took the time to inform us and I have inspected that room personally today. If you ever need to contact us again, please feel free to reach out to me directly. I will be happy to help in any way that I can and I want all our guest to be happy and safe! Thank you again for your email and time! Warm regards, Zonda Baird, Property Manager, North Dakota Aries Residence Suites

When asked about the incident, North Dakota Property Manager Zonda Baird simply replied, “It’s what we do. The bottom line is providing good service, period. It’s how well you do or how well you don’t do that sets you apart. People compare different facilities. We build trust by delivering a good experience no matter what.”

And so it continues, day after day, in North Dakota, Texas, Oklahoma, all the way into Canada’s workforce housing facilities. Meeting challenge with greatness one person at a time. If things were constantly perfect, we wouldn’t have the opportunity to show others exactly what we’re made of.

Katie Roman Shares Strategy, Success, and Tips for Women in Construction

2024-11-13T19:13:35+00:00
Graphics-based image showing silhouettes of workers on a construction site, next to a headshot of Katie Roman, a young blonde woman.

Aries Building Systems VP of Sales & Marketing Workforce Housing, Katie Roman, was recently featured on The Construction Leading Edge Podcast where she left the straight-laced modular building talk behind, and got down & dirty in conversation with host Todd Dewalt.

You can listen to the  podcast here: Episode #087: Expert Sales Strategies and Tips for Women in Construction with Katie Roman, but here’s some great excerpts from Roman’s interview:

Todd: What is a common mistake you see women make?

Katie: Talking too much. Listen more than you talk. You need to understand what your end user customer is looking for. Women are notoriously known for talking too much. One of the biggest aspects for selling is to listen. If we listen more, we’ll sell more.

Todd: Describe Aries.

Katie: Aries Buildings Systems is a total solution modular provider based out of Houston, Texas. We service not only the oil & gas industry which is my division/segment, but also commercial modular aspects which would be anything from government to education to modular banks to modular hotels…so really Aries is your total provider modular solution covering it all. And as the world continues to grow & innovate, I believe modular building will be the way of the future for some of the things that it brings to the table from a construction aspect.

Todd: Advice for the young one in construction?

Katie: Be very patient, be very observant. I’ve learned a lot from watching my father… you also need to (be independent) have the resume & capabilities to move on.

Todd: Advice for the elder generation in construction?

Katie: Share, teach, spread your knowledge.

Katie’s tips on confrontation: I never really had a fear of confrontation. I just grew up not having that fear. I recommend if you aren’t comfortable having the conversation, write it down. But keep in the back of your mind, “what’s my end goal.” Figure out a tactic how to confront it and how to resolve it. (Todd agrees with Katie about writing it out. Todd added, “I probably don’t know everything here, but worst thing you can do is verbally and emotionally vomit. If you’re gonna vomit, do it in private first.” Words of wisdom.)

The interview includes a hypothetical scenario posed by Dewalt, where 3 sons and Dad are running the family business. One son isn’t pulling his weight. Katie provides her perspective from each parties point of view, and advises on ways this could be handled to preserve the integrity of the business and family members involved in the conundrum.

Modular Buildings: A Timeless Solution Since Before the Pilgrims

2024-11-13T18:36:52+00:00

So you know the trailer classrooms at my school?” said my niece. “Yes,” I responded. “I realized today the Native Americans were making those modular buildings long before that Aries company you work with!” Hmm. The holidays often bring about introspection, especially for children. But my niece had a point worth pondering, so I did. And now I’m passing these wispy thoughts and information on to you, so as you walk forward in the world of construction trailers, mobile offices, and other prefab dwellings, you can think back to the original portable buildings of America’s Great Plains.

For thousands of years, Native Americans sought housing suitable for their lifestyle and climate. For nomadic tribes that followed the buffalo, it was imperative that their entire village was able to pick up very quickly and move along to another location (sounds a bit like workforce housing, no?). These relocatable quarters, or teepees, were built using many long wooden poles for the frame, then tied together snug at the top and spread out wide at the ground, making an upside-down cone shape. After this frame was tested for sturdiness, a giant covering made from buffalo hides was placed over the structure. This process took around 30 minutes, making it an extremely efficient way to live.

As tribes migrated, each family in the village would carry along their own poles and hides, erecting teepees around 12-feet tall. After horses came into the picture, they started building them twice as tall. In the summer time, the buffalo hide could be raised, allowing the cool plains air to flow through the gap at the bottom. And in the winter, the teepee could be quickly insulated by adding additional coverings over the structure and building a fire inside, allowing the smoke to flow out the hole on top of the teepee.

When it gets down to it, not much has changed when it comes to what we look for in a portable building.

Time savings

Since the construction of modular buildings can take place simultaneously with the site & foundation work, projects can be completed in almost half the time as traditional construction, not to mention the elimination of weather delays.

Safety

Prefabricated buildings are built to meet or exceed the same building codes and standards as site-built structures, and the indoor construction environment reduces the risks of accidents for workers.

Quality

Modular buildings are assembled with the same materials, building codes, and architectural specifications as traditional construction, using BIM technology to assess energy performance and identify the most-cost effective measures in advance.

Environmentally conscious

Modular construction takes place within a controlled facility, minimizing site disturbance, besides reducing waste and continued need for raw materials – as the same modular unit can be used time and time again.

Adaptability

A portable classroom can have another life as a mobile office. A mobile container can be customized into a construction trailer. Modular units can also be designed to fit in with external aesthetics of any existing structures, making them virtually indistinguishable from any other architecture.

When it’s all said and done, the most important part of the equation is the families which make up the village. Although the days of the North American nomadic tribes are passed, the responsibility to “create your own space” still remains in the hands of the families within our communities. The Native Americans worked together as a unit in order to make sure their community was safe, fed, and had the opportunity to grow in the face of change. Here at Aries, we still value that keeping people cool, warm, safe, and comfortable is still the goal. And as a family-owned business, we believe in helping our communities grow in every way we can.

How Will My Used Modular Building Be Delivered?

2018-12-18T17:44:57+00:00

It all comes down to process. For modular buildings they are able to become a more practical, environmentally friendly, and efficient alternative to traditional construction because they consider how to increase productivity every step of the way and provide a fully constructed building upon delivery. The question is, how in the world does Aries Building Systems achieve such a delivery?

The Prep

Before delivery even begins, there is a substantial amount of prep work done in order to ensure that not only the delivery, but installation upon arrival is possible. When selecting the location where the modular building will be placed our clients and us consider grade, soil, proximity to water and sewer lines, existing structure, etc. in order to ensure that the building can be safely delivered and installed. Once the location is approved, a site crew can begin to prepare the site for the delivery. This preparation can include foundation work, utilities, walkways and many other critical components to a successful delivery.

The Delivery

Modular buildings are built to withstand the rigors of transportation and craning onto foundations but that doesn’t make the process any less impressive. The buildings are built with what are called pick points where the panel or module can be lifted by crane onto trucks designed specifically to tow them. The crane may vary depending on the building but the most common is a hydraulic crane; crawler cranes or tower cranes are also used in certain circumstances. Once loaded onto the truck the building makes its very slow journey to the site.

During transport, these trucks typically are accompanied by escorts because of the vast size of the units (often taking up more than one lane) and because they often drive below the speed limit to ensure the building does not become damaged. This entire process not only requires the coordination between Aries and our clients but also state governments. Each state has differing permits, codes, lead cars, and fees required for such a delivery which means the delivery for a used building may change slightly on a case by case basis. Once arrival at the site, another crane is used to lift the building off the truck and onto the foundation. At this point external connections such as water, alarm systems and data lines can be made to the building.

The Advantage

So in this complicated waltz, what makes it worthwhile? Simply, time and money. While this individual step may seem more complex than the delivery of materials to a traditional construction site, the time saved by building off-site and delivering the completed building can cut a projects time in half. Aries Building Systems’s process creates an efficiency designed to save you money in the long run and have a building delivered, ready for use after just a few easy steps.

What You Need to Look for in a Modular Building Manufacturer

2018-12-18T17:54:16+00:00

Modular buildings are taking the world by storm, gaining new interest daily. If you are among the many that have decided a modular building would be your best option, there are a few things to consider when choosing a modular building manufacturer. As with any service, some companies shine far brighter than others. Here are a few key things to consider.

Building Quality and Versatility

Almost every company’s website includes an “inventory” tab. Browse this tab to get a feel for the company’s building style and availability. A lot of variety in size, dimensions, and style is a good sign of the company’s creativity and versatility.

The inventory usually consists of buildings that are currently available, but most companies will work with you to develop your own design, and custom build for you.

Value-Added Services/Features

In addition to versatility and originality in design, your chosen modular building manufacturer should offer services that help your building “keep up with the times.” For example, some companies offer video systems for uses such as security and conferences.

Variety in Industries Served

While browsing company websites, check out what types of industries the company typically works with. Your manufacturer may have experience producing buildings to be used for education, government, healthcare, disaster relief, etc. Also check whether the manufacturer has experience with any “specialty buildings.” For example, blast-resistant modular buildings are specifically manufactured to resist explosive damage and increase personnel safety.

Alternative Construction Method

By going the modular route, you are almost guaranteed to save time, relative to traditional construction. You can save even more time by choosing a modular building manufacturer that offers alternative construction methods. With this method, land is prepared while manufacturing is in progress. This way, the foundation for the building is fully ready for installation once the building is ready for delivery.

Cost Savings

Again, by going the modular route, you are almost guaranteed to save $$! Save even more by choosing a modular building manufacturer that offers financing options. Explore the manufacturer’s financing options, and don’t settle for less. The company may offer financing for both renting and purchasing.

You can also save money by choosing a manufacturer that specializes in “turnkey” projects. Turnkey projects typically involve all aspects of production occurring under one roof. That is, one company handles the design, manufacture, engineering, transportation and installation, saving significant time and money.

Maintenance

If your chosen modular building manufacturer has a site location permit, this means the manufacturer is legally permitted to manage the maintenance of your building, including check-ups and repairs, as needed. This can be very convenient for you, as you won’t need to hire an outside source, and your manufacturer will already be familiar with your building’s needs.

Consider these factors when shopping for a modular building manufacturer to get the best bang for your buck. Aries Building Systems offers the turnkey advantage with exceptional customer service and cost savings. Contact us today at:  780-910-1548 or [email protected]

Behold The Prefab Wonderland in Aries’ Used Relocatable Building Inventory

2024-11-13T18:06:53+00:00

James Cash Penney wisely stated, “Growth is never by mere chance; it is the result of forces working together.” Katie Roman, VP of Sales & Marketing at Aries said, “Collectively, our growth strategy is to skillfully work hard. We did, we are, and we will. Which is why we consistently find success.” Coincidence? We think not! Great industry leaders, from the department store business to the modular building industry, understand that mountains can be moved when people work together with undivided passion and skill towards a defined goal. The recent growth of modular building leader Aries Building Systems reflects this mindset, and they continue to strive to be the industry game changer when it comes to new modular construction, prefab used buildings, and relocatable housing. But alas, today we are focusing on Aries’ vast wonderland of used relocatable building inventory… and it’s gonna leave you slack-jawed if you’re a fiend of this sort. A modular building fiend, that is.

Recently, Aries Building Systems – and their partners at Advanced Modular Space – coordinated the launch of a spectacular online inventory of prefab buildings. We’re talking hundreds of used modular buildings that can be bought, leased, and even financed, thanks to the “Aries Turnkey Advantage” way of doing things. From entire workforce housing solutions to relocatable construction trailers, you can find what you’re looking on Aries’ used modular inventory pages. (They are known for their proficiency at delivering custom prefab buildings, too. So you really can’t go wrong.)

Let’s take a deeper dive into the specifics…

Commercial

Relocatable buildings for commercial use can encompass everything from prefab real estate offices to the ever-so-hip-right-now restaurant trailers and any modular custom facility you could dream up. Amongst the wide scope of offerings,  Aries has multiple mobile office trailers in a plethora of sizes: single, double, triple, quad, and higher available.

Recreation, Kitchen, and Rest Rooms

Maybe even in that order, because that’s a sign of a full life and a joyful existence! Whether you’re in the market for relocatable workout gyms or ringing the dinner bell to feed the masses, mobile trailers come in all shapes and sizes, and Aries has them all.

Crew Quarters & Hotel

It’s no secret that one of the many reasons Aries is a leader in used relocatable buildings is because they lead a double life. This is not a tawdry tale of secretly leasing modular restrooms to the enemy, but their noble effort to provide temporary workforce housing to companies that care enough to give their employees a “home away from home.” The vessel to this noble quest: Aries Residence Suites. Feel free to Google the heck outta them. They are killing it on the workforce housing front. Mobile crew trailers are the name of the game and relocatable hotel buildings which possess comfortable bedrooms, fully functional kitchens, and even up-to-date appliances upon request is how Aries aims to please. Visit our super special devoted landing page on the Aries Residence Suites website which features pictures and floorplans, or just get to it on our used mobile crew trailer inventory pages. By the way, you’ll even find mobile laundry trailers, prefab locker rooms, and all the kinds of things you’d expect to find in the area of crew quarters and modular hotels.

Classroom (Education)

Much like the Crew Quarters & Hotel section above, we’d be remiss in not mentioning, well, Aries doesn’t lead a double life, but maybe a triple life. In fact, let’s just scratch the covert references all together. This whole thing is out in the open, and Aries has way more going on that any other U.S. modular building company. There’s a certain division of Aries named Class Leasing devoted, but not limited to, relocatable classrooms. Aries as a whole have been very busy in the educational sector, recently winning awards from The Modular Building Institute for their work with Birdville ISD, a school system in Haltom City Texas, and taking home top honors in the relocatable education category for their work with the Ascension Parish School Board’s Flood Recovery Temporary Classrooms, in Gonzales, LA.

Medical

Aries can help you help them! From customized modular hospital buildings to mobile medical trailers and beyond, Aries provides a plethora of customizable options to meet all your temporary and/or permanent healthcare needs. Because every modular buildings Aries sells or leases, new or used, is under stringent codes and regulations, you will never have to worry about the quality and safety of your Aries modular facility.

Container & Construction

Aries now offers container buildings. Single mobile container, storage container, standard container buildings, generator container buildings, portable storage units… the list goes on! Portable construction trailers are a hot item, and Aries has a wide selection on their used portable building inventory pages.

A Special Note: Temporary Buildings for Disaster Relief

“Sometimes in life we get the opportunity to bring our work life into our personal life and ethics. Knowing that we have made a real difference in the face of disaster is the biggest career reward.”

  • Katie Roman, VP of Sales & Marketing, Aries Building Systems

Aries has a history of delivering emergency relocatable buildings for disaster relief, including the devastating Canadian wildfire of May 2016  and, recently being awarded by the Modular Building Institute for their work in response to the flooding in Louisiana resulting from long periods of torrential downpours in August 2016. Aries has a devoted international emergency relief page on their website.

Aries is owned by Reliant Asset Management, a leading specialty rental company providing premier modular space solutions to customers throughout North America. Aries to Attend Permian Basin International Oil Show

2018-12-18T17:59:03+00:00

The Permian Basin International Oil Show is a convention showcasing products and services pertaining to the oil and gas industry. This three-day event will be held from October 16th to October 18th 2018 in Odessa, Texas with hundreds of vendors featured including Aries Building Systems LLC. The oil and gas industry is one of the most prominent industries around the world and is a staple in the world economy, making this convention a hub for big business opportunities and networking.

The Permian Basin has been a hub for oil and gas production since the 1920’s and continues to remain a steady region. Aries Building Systems is all too aware of this because of the workforce housing we provide to oil field workers through Aries Residence Suites. We will be in attendance at the convention in order to establish new contracts, share our ideas and experiences in the industry, and develop our relationships in the oil and gas industry.

History of the Permian Basin Oil Show

Starting off with a mere 35 exhibits in 1940, this now world-wide event has transformed from a ‘little international oil show’ in the boomtown of Odessa to a booming event all of its own. The convention lasted two years then had to hold off during World War II, reconvening in 1950. The project was revived by oilmen from the Permian Basin and they formed the non-profit organization – The Permian Basin Oil Show, Inc. They initially presented in October of 1952 and have held the event every two years since.

In 1994 the show was renamed to The Permian Basin International Oil Show, Inc. to aptly represent the large number of international companies in attendance.

This year’s show

With over 700 oil- and gas-related companies, this year’s Permian Basin International Oil Show, Inc. will have over 1,167 spaces. The event is held in the Ector County Coliseum and will have a variety of attendees including geologists, field operators, businesses owners, and everything in-between.

The event is an opportunity to educate industry professionals on the latest trends and technologies in the industry and bring professionals together; all while honoring the history of the oil and gas industry and its leaders.

If you will be in attendance, please visit our booth to see what Aries Building Systems has to offer and learn how we specialize in supplying full turnkey man camps, remote workforce housing, and commercial modular buildings systems to a wide range of industries and applications across the US and Canada.

Our booth will actually be a full crew quarters unit for those that want to see first hand what Aries can provide. Stop by to see the layout and top-notch accommodations!

In the meantime, if you believe that Aries could be of service to your organization and provide you modular building solutions, please visit us ariesbuildings.comor give us a call at (888) 702-0134.

Aries: Proud Vendors for Allied States Cooperative

2024-10-16T23:18:55+00:00

Aries Building System LLC. is a proud vendor for Allied States Cooperative, a.k.a. the ESC-Region 19 Purchasing. The ESC-Region 19 is a national governmental purchasing cooperative that bids and awards contracts to vendors at every level that comply with local, state, and federal procurement laws and regulations. They focus on contracts available to public schools, charter schools, private schools, community colleges, universities, cities, counties, other governmental agencies, and nonprofits.

The role of the organization is to aid teachers and administrators in the El Paso, Texas area by linking the districts and charter schools they serve and the Texas Education Agency (the administrative unit of the Texas public education system). So… why is it important for Aries to be a vendor of this Cooperative? Let us give a detailed explanation of Allied States and the benefits/advantages it provides for its customers… and you will see why.

What exactly does Allied States Cooperative (ESC Region-19) do? Why be a vendor?

The mission of Allied States Cooperative says they are, “…committed to ensuring success for all students by providing quality services to all educational partners in our region through a continuous improvement process.” As mentioned before, Choice Partners offers procurement and contract solutions to meet educational purchasing requirements. This means that the organization completes the legal, competitively-bid procurement process so that their members can instantly access contracts.

This can be for anything from food contracts to technology products or even facilities planning & facility contracts. The latter is the category Aries falls under. We help with repair, remediation, renovation and remodeling of facilities.

As a vendor, Aries puts out bids to work with these members and provide them with any modular building needs they may have. It allows members direct access to our products without having to jump through the government regulation hoops.

Advantages for members and vendors

Because the contracts are already competitively procured, members are able to make purchases quicker, therefore creating more business opportunity for Aries. The quick turnaround time for getting the contracts squared away means Aries can work with more organizations, within a wider range of industries.

Allied States Cooperative is just one of many cooperative memberships that Aries is a vendor for; check out our ‘Purchasing Contracts’ for more details. Or, if you believe that Aries could be of service to your organization and provide you modular building solutions in some other way, please visit us at ariesbuildings.com or give us a call at (888) 702-0134.
