PLAY WHILE LEARNING?

Have fun while attending a global event? Yes please! Welcome to the 2022 World of Modular Annual Convention and Tradeshow. From April 25th to April 28th in San Antonio, Texas, there will be four days of the industry’s best in modular construction open to the public and to professionals. Whether you’re familiar with modular construction or not, this event will make you rethink what modular can be. With attendees and presenters from across the world such as Europe, South Korea, and Canada to more domestic participants from California, Washington DC, and Texas, this is a networking bonanza that educates and promotes while keeping you on the cutting edge of tomorrow’s technologies. If you need to research commercial modular builders, this tradeshow is your resource. Let us take you on a brief tour of what you can expect at 2022 WOM.

WHAT TO KNOW

The World of Modular is presented by the Modular Building Institute (MBI), an international non-profit trade association that focuses on modular construction. Comprised of members that specialize in permanent modular construction, relocatable modular buildings, and related services, MBI brings the world of modular together.

This year, for the first time, MBI’s 2022 WOM convention has a digital option. Whether you’re registering for digital attendance or for the in-person experience, check out their agenda to get an inside peek at the invaluable educational experience and expertise that you will have access to.

GET EDUCATED, GET INFORMED

While the list of keynote and featured speakers is expansive, equally are the topics, ranging from the housing crisis, performance metrics of modular technologies and applications, to the evolution of policies, industrialization trends, and so much more. With so much to choose from, where should you start?

We suggest starting with Anirban Basu, chairman and CEO of Sage Policy Group, Inc. Basu is the James Bond of analytics and the Agatha Christie of economic trends, and if you read his full bio, those last two statements will make more sense. One of Washington DC’s premiere economists, recognized as one of Maryland’s 50 most influential people, and Baltimore’s 20 most powerful business leaders, Mr. Basu also teaches at Johns Hopkins and has authored Modular Building Institute’s “Economic & Financial Performance of Relocatable Buildings in the U.S. Modular Building Industry.” He understands supply, demand, and the impact of strategic decisions on a community and industry. His presentation on “Construction Drivers and Trends for 2022” is a must. Featured alongside some of the industry’s most forward-thinking innovators, his in-depth knowledge is a great starting point for all your interests in modular construction and explains why Aries Modular Buildings would sponsor him.

What makes Aries the expert on who should be a speaker at WOM?

NOW HAVE SOME FUN

All work and no play… not at this convention. On the first day, there is a golf tournament followed by an opening party in the evening. On the following days, don’t forget to visit the Exhibit Hall. If you’re looking for materials or services or just want to network, the exhibit hall is a valuable tool. What’s more, you can participate in several entertaining games for a chance at the Grand Prize. Maybe it’s cash, a recreational vehicle, or a trip; the prize changes every year. Either way, WOM is not dull.

Modular Building Institute’s logo is projected on curtains at the left side of the back wall.

On the final evening, don’t miss the awards banquet where WOM celebrates those that have made remarkable achievements in the modular construction industry. With an independent panel of experts judging in various categories such as:

  • Best of Show
  • Permanent Modular
  • Relocatable Modular
  • Green Building
  • Renovated Reuse
  • Judge’s Choice

With over a dozen sub-categories to be found under both permanent and relocatable modular, the awards banquet is wide-ranging and far-reaching. Winners not only earn prestige, they also are featured in MBI’s global marketing efforts, including a magazine, throughout the year.

HAVE MORE FUN

After all of that, is there any need for more? Of course, there is! This year’s convention is at La Cantera Resort & Spa, a luxury resort nestled in the Hill Country of San Antonio. This property has seemingly endless amenities to keep you entertained. In addition to the aforementioned golf tournament, you have access to a tennis and pickle ball court, there are nine bars and restaurants on property to choose from, five resort pools, a spa and wellness center, a fitness center, and running trails.

If you are looking for something more and are itching to get off property, catch a shuttle to the San Antonio Zoo, the theme park Six Flags, or San Antonio’s Riverwalk. Visit nearby Hill Country wineries, experience 300 years of Texas at The Alamo or go to The Robert L.B. Tobin Land Bridge wildlife park just 20 minutes away. Off property or on, the 2022 World of Modular Annual Convention and Tradeshow offers plenty of play while learning.
